Municipal Art Museum in the Spendhaus

The main focus of the collections and exhibitions of the Municipal Art Museum in the Spendhaus in Reutlingen is on relief art prints of the 20th and 21st centuries.

This specific profile has historic roots. Two woodcut specialists stand out among Reutlingen's artists in the previous century, and their works form the core of the collection: Wilhelm Laage (1868-1930) and, most notably, HAP Grieshaber (1909-1981). Both of these artists are responsible for making woodcuts a genuine medium of contemporary art.

The representative collection of 20th-century woodcuts, particularly from Germany, is constantly being added to. In the field of contemporary art, alongside the works of German artists, examples of the most important international trends are also to be found.
