St. Salvator Schwäbisch Gmünd

Directly behind Schwäbisch Gmünd's railway station a tradition-steeped lane with the Stations of the Cross, shrines, and chapels with life-size figures leads up to the pilgrimage site of St. Salvator. Its sanctuary, the St. Salvator Chapel, was built by the church architect Caspar Vogt some time after 1617.

He used existing caves to create an upper and a lower chapel. While Schwäbisch Gmünd was still a Free Imperial City, Capuchin monks were responsible for the processions up to the chapel.
